Lamp

I found you,
perfect poem, between lines of text
which said too much. Circled sections, some blacked out, repetitive themes

completely annihilated.

I took in too much terror.

A cannibal’s illness crept upon me,
till I found your words, finally, quiet,
and you in the middle, doing that wholesome, worried work,

admission of bones

stepped upon and tremors unfelt.

You and your persistence,
your French roses, your lack of emoticons, your quiet rivers.
Finally a wake, beneath a wave. “Every journey begins in the dark.”

At last I could

inhale/exhale, another day.

At last there was
some space in which I dwelled
without pain; your words made me okay again. Then it was only

a step further

to this blank page.

        1. So kind! Of course I don’t mind! 😊🙏Thank you! 💛✨☀️And coffee sounds divine. Oddly forgot to make mine. Now you have reminded me, and I am off to enjoy real-world caffeinated pleasures. ☕️😄

        1. And now I am thinking perhaps it was I who misunderstood! Maybe “unruly” was an autocorrect typo from “and really”? 🧐🤓Either way, I appreciate the comment Scott. It felt truly meant indeed.

  1. These lines are brilliant, I love the idea of speaking to a poem.

I get a sense of a scrambling in the darkness, diffuse and ghoulish fears, and then the relief, the calm, the ability to breathe, when you finally discover the words/person you needed. Brilliant!
